Maddox Lewis

Founder & CEO

Maddox is a student at Emory University's Goizueta Business School, studying Finance and Applied Mathematics. He's originally from Atlanta.

He started Orion in February 2026 after noticing how much of the on-ramp into finance depends on who you already know. Orion was his attempt at a different on-ramp: one built on the actual work, not the connections.

The group grew fast. What started as an idea among a handful of students turned into a cohort of 80 analysts from more than 40 schools in its first two cycles.

Our Mission

Orion Equity Research Group is a student-led equity research institution built on the belief that aspiring finance professionals should not have to wait until their first job to do real analytical work. Founded in 2026, Orion selects a cohort of high-achieving students from universities across the world and puts them through a rigorous ten-week program in which they conduct original company research, build financial models, perform DCF and comparable companies valuations, and author a full initiating coverage report published under their own name. Every report that comes out of Orion meets the standard of professional equity research and is made available to recruiters, investors, and the broader finance community. Orion exists to give the next generation of analysts the credentials and experience to compete at the highest level before they ever step foot in an interview room.
